Now that the posts are in, and the footings have had time to cure, its time to put the fence back together!
First step is to cut the post to their final height, and treat the cut ends. Oddly enough, the preservative only penetrates about a half-inch in... so the end must be treated to prevent dry rot.

First cut the fence post to height, and treat with wood preservative... |
While the preservative is drying (nasty stuff when wet) I cover up the footings...

Will need some time to grow out... |

Now we are ready to put the fence back together... |
Now that the preservative is dry, the put the fence together!

A good start... |

Finished on the left... |

...and on the right. |
All the fence sections have been attached with long screws. However, due to the age of the fence sections, a certain amount of reinforcement is needed. Additionally, the fence needs to be strengthened in order to resists the Santa Ana winds that blew it down in the first place. This reinforcement will be covered in a subsequent post.
